The Sole F63 is an entry level treadmill priced at under $1,000 and this is about right for entry level, I wouldn’t pay lower than this for an in home treadmill. It has many features that surpass it’s good price tag that you would often find on more expensive treadmills. To start with there is the deck which goes to 60″, so it can still take people with long strides.

The deck has a 20″ width which is improved upon for Sole’s more expensive treadmills. The heart of the treadmill is the console and we have a 6.5″ LCD which gives you all the information you want to know as you exercise. The buttons to control the F63 are all around and within easy reach with any change shown on the clear display.

The F63 is a folding treadmill for those where space is limited, the mechanism is easy to use and the space it takes up small. There is now an app specially for Sole treadmills that enables you to download your workout details onto that app and any others that can use exercise data. This was only introduced in the last year.

I was surprised to see heart rate programs as they are advanced features. The settings on the treadmill change to maintain your heart rate to one that gives you a good intensity and increases your cardiovascular fitness. A chest strap is not included and must be bought separately. This is expected for a treadmill of this price and a chest strap doesn’t cost too much if you wish to use this feature.

Features of the Sole F63 Treadmill

+ Folding Deck – Sole have patented a folding design which, when you release the deck, unfolds to the floor as you step back and admire the ingenuity. For safety, which is good around children, the mechanism locks itself into the upright position when you want your treadmill folded. This is unique to Sole treadmills.

+ Cushion Flex, Quiet Deck – Sole have tried to make this deck as quiet as possible. This is a good thing and more makers should do this as treadmills can get very noisy with various squeaks. Unfortunately Sole treadmills are not immune to this and it just means that you need to lubricate the noisy parts. The cushioned deck means you can exercise for longer without damaging your joints.

+ Welded Frame and Good Motor – The frame is precision welded which gives it a better, stronger and more stable construction. The motor is 3.0 CHP which is good at this price range. Both of these have a lifetime warranty which is right as the frame should last and the motor should only suffer from wear and tear.

+ 15% Incline and 12 mph Top Speed – An incline is useful for walkers who need to power train and work those leg muscles. For runners who want to replicate running outside (which is 1%) or those who want to simulate a race by including a hill in their routine will use the incline. The top speed of 12 mph is good and about right at this price range. This is exactly 5 minutes per mile and that will cover 99% of hobby runners who will run at far less than that speed.

+ Handy Features – They may not be very powerful but the cooling fans are always nice and you’ll find them here. The same is true with the sound system. You can plug in an MP3 player to hear your music or anything motivational you like for exercise or use the included headphone jack. The maximum user capacity is 325 lbs, this is very good for a treadmill of this price.

+ Warranty – The F63 has an impressive warranty. As mentioned before there is the lifetime on the frame and motor. The deck, electronics and parts have 3 years. This is good and shows a commitment on Sole’s part because they don’t want to pay for repairs. The labor warranty, which is the most important, is one year and we all know labor is the most expensive job when it comes to repairs.

+ Sturdiness – There are plenty of comments on the web describing how sturdy this treadmill is. One user said that his F63 lasted for 5 years with daily use by 3 people. That may not sound like long but for a cheap treadmill used in a commercial way which that user had done I think that’s excellent and shows what a sturdy machine the F63 is.

Drawbacks of the Sole F63 Treadmill

Basic Display – Consumers have complained about the display and while it isn’t the touch screens the commercial gym treadmills have, you get what you pay for. There could be more information on it and it could be bigger but you’re paying less than $1,000. It is a little old fashioned but at least they now have the sole fitness app to download and share your workouts.

Broken Quickly – It appears that a small number of consumers receive broken treadmills or ones that brake quickly. What I would say it that a treadmill is a complicated piece of equipment and unfortunately they can become defective or received that way. From what I’ve read, Sole have been very pro active in getting these problems dealt with in as quick a time as possible.

Sole F63 Treadmill Review Summary

The Sole F63 has plenty of happy customers and it’s sturdiness, which I would argue is probably the most important feature, stands up. They seem to be using this treadmill for running as well as walking. Entry machines aren’t usually good for running but this doesn’t appear to be the case here. There are reviews across the web that agree with this.

So overall this looks like a great treadmill? It’s good enough that I give it 4 stars. For the price it’s a great machine for those who want to begin a new lifestyle. If you want to get fit and lose or maintain your weight then the F63 will satisfy. For an entry level treadmill it has all the features you need and more, it would be a good choice in the home.
