The Bowflex TreadClimber TC200 is the highest-rated TreadClimber. It has received positive reviews from owners and experts too. With the TC200 you use it to walk. The top speed is very brisk walking at 4.5 mph. You would very rarely approach that speed because you walk on an incline which makes it a good workout.

Although you’re only walking, you’ll often get into the aerobic zone. In this zone your heart will beat faster, you’ll sweat and you’ll burn a lot of calories. The TreadClimbers, including the TC200 are designed to help you lose weight. Not that you’ll need much help as it will burn around 2.5 times more calories than a flat treadmill at the same speed.

There’s a weight capacity of 300 lbs. So even if you’re a heavier person you can still succeed in losing weight with the TC200. Remember you’re still only walking which is something everyone can do. Almost everything has been improved upon over the model below (the TC100). You have a far more interactive experience and I go through each of these further in the review below. You might struggle in choosing which you’d like more.

The extras the TC200 has are the heart rate sensors, an included heart rate chest strap, 5 workout programs, Bluetooth, the free TreadClimber app and more. There are always offers too which bring the price down and supply you with essentials like a mat to put the equipment on which will protect your floors. These offers are on the Bowflex product pages.

Features

+ Heart Rate Chest Strap – This comes with the TC200, you don’t have to purchase it separately. The TreadClimber uses your heart rate during workout programs and your fitness score. I’ve seen no other equipment use your heart rate information so well. My recommendation is you use it whenever you’re on the TC200 as you’ll like the feedback.

There is a zone indicator light to tell you in what zone you’re exercising in. The redder the color, the better your workout. This is all factored into your user profile, this is because you give your age, gender and weight. So the TC200 knows what your heart rate should be when you’re using the equipment.

The manual clearly shows how you should attach the included heart rate chest strap. It also tells you how it collects your fitness score. This is a number between 1 and 100, the higher the number, the fitter you are. This number will go up and down as you workout over time. It’s a useful feature that I recommend.

+ 5 Workout Programs – This is good for a TreadClimber especially when you consider the model below has none. Not that you may use them that often. However, they will give you a start and some motivation to keep going. They are a bit limited compared to Bowflex treadmill workout options but I’ll go through them here so you get an idea of what they’re like.

I’ll go through the simple ones first and they are: calorie goal, time goal and distance goal. As you may be able to guess, with these you specify your goal whether that’s calories, time or distance. The counter then starts at your goal and counts down until you reach it. The calorie one is quite appealing because the calorie count is accurate.

The most interesting to me is the interval program. Interval training is very popular at the moment with many fitness enthusiasts doing it. It involves short bursts of intense activity followed by resting periods. These are within the TC200 and I advise you test them out. Otherwise you have “just walk” which is the open ended quick start, and that’s your 5 programs.

+ Free TreadClimber App – This uses the Bluetooth technology as well as the 4 user profiles. The app is able to use your smart device and the USB port to download your workout data. You choose which of the 4 users data you wish to download. You can then share this with popular fitness apps to see how your fitness changes over time.

The particular fitness apps in question are ones like the incredibly popular: “My Fitness Pal”, “Apple Health Kit” and “Google Fit”. So the TreadClimber syncs the workout data with these fitness apps. When your information is on the apps, your data can be viewed in a variety of ways like attractive graphs and charts which show how you’re doing with your walking.

+ Transport Wheels – The TC200 has a little feature where you can easily move it to your desired location. However, the machine is quite heavy at 202 lbs, so you should take a lot of care when moving it. I would advise that it takes 2 people so you have less chance of causing any damage if you want to move it to a new permanent location.

If your workout room is small you can lift it using the transport handle which is there for this purpose. You would then lift using the handle onto the transport wheels and move it to where you want it. The manual clearly shows, with pictures, how to access the handle and move using the wheels. You won’t want to do this too often in my opinion.

Drawbacks

– Only For Walkers – Not sure if this is a drawback but remember with a top speed of 4.5 mph, the TC200 is for walking only. There’ll be no jogging or running here. I wouldn’t say this machine is aimed at the fitness enthusiast as such, although you will get fit using it. It’s mainly for those wanting to lose weight or walk into the home on quality equipment. When comparing the treadmill and the treadclimber, you’ll notice that the treadmill has so much more variety with running flat and on an incline, whereas with the treadclimber you can only walk.

– No Touchscreen – The screen tells you everything you need to know about your workout including awards. But it’s not a full-color touchscreen. These do cost a lot of money to make and produce, plus they’re not necessarily needed. The aim of the TC200 TreadClimber is to help give you a good workout and it’s good at doing it.

Summary

The TC200 is the leading TreadClimber by Bowflex. There are adverts everywhere for these machines. They are very popular and sell well as a result. In my review I’ve described the features compared to the model below and I believe they make a real difference. This TC200 is the higher model and I’ve described the different features it has at the top.

Bowflex, as well as making superb machines, always have offers for money off. There’s usually one on the go at any one time. Just go through to the Bowflex product page and you’ll find it. The TreadClimbers, I think, stand up in their own regards. If you’re looking to lose weight in the home and you’ve seen the TreadClimber in use. You’ll know that’s it’s well worth a look, 5 stars.
