The Technogym Jog Forma is a professional treadmill. If you’re serious about getting fit and maintaining or losing weight then this machine could be right for you. It is made to be a simple but effective piece of equipment. All the controls are made to be as clear as possible to operate to help you easily get started.
The deck is designed to be long life and is spacious and stable for confident running with handrails at your side. It’s the widest running surface of a Technogym treadmill and they usually make treadmill for gyms and facilities. This is more for the home and as such takes up little space. An exercise room will be enhanced with this machine in there.
Technogym have designed the Jog Forma to enable you to have, as they call it, simple and effective workouts and I couldn’t have described it better. They have a very easy to use console which has a numerical keypad for you to change the settings like incline and speed. The speed goes up to 11.2 mph which is about 5 minutes and 30 seconds per mile.
The incline goes up to 15% and this is the same as nearly every high end treadmill. The machine doesn’t come with a heart rate chest strap but can read and display those that transmit at the usual frequency like Polar which is 5kHz. There is a selection of 5 workout programs which can be changed on the fly with a numerical keypad.
Features
+ 6.0 HP Motor – This size of motor really is something. I normally see 3.0 to 4.0 CHP but 6.0 HP is really quite big and I can’t imagine it will ever have to use all that power very often. This is good because it means the motor will last like the rest of the unit. It really is capable of supplying you with better performance and even outperforming the user.
+ Constant Pulse Rate System – This is much like a heart rate control program. You use the hand grips or a heart rate chest strap to read your heat rate. It maintains this rate to have you running at a certain level. The Jog Forma will change the incline to keep your heart beating at the required speed. This is a very effective way of working out.
+ Runner Detection System – This is the first treadmill I’ve seen with this feature. The machine can tell if a user is on the deck. If there isn’t and the belt is moving it will automatically stop to ensure everyone’s safety. This means that other members of the family can use the treadmill and you have the confidence of knowing there’s an important safety feature built in.
+ Intuitive Display – As mentioned before a numerical keypad allows you to change the speed and incline. On the left of it are the 5 workout programs available for you to choose from. The display uses QR codes so you would download the free Forma app and use it here. There is an LED dial which helps show you how you’re performing as you exercise.
+ Automatic Data Tracking – There is what’s called the bluetooth Forma training link (optional) which allows you to connect your ipad to the treadmill. You use the Forma training app to track your workout data and see your exercise in some unique ways. Your ipad (not included) can be attached to the Jog Forma treadmill using the entertainment support for optimal view.
+ 396 lbs User Capacity – This is the maximum weight you see on all high end treadmills. So if you’re new to using one and you weigh a lot then this can help you lose the weight. With the speed starting at less than 1 mph, if you want to start with walking, you can. Get some power walking done by using the incline, the Jog Forma can take the weight.
+ Transportation & Installation Included – Technogym are the only company I’ve reviewed who will take care of all this included in the price. First of all you book the date and time that suits you. Then the staff will assemble and position the treadmill. They will then fully test it to check everything is in order and then they will clean the area for you.
Drawbacks
– Chest Strap Not Included – When you’re running you want to keep your arms swinging freely rather than hold onto pulse grips. Chest straps are very cheap and the Jog Forma can read the most popular. Technogym don’t make their own and so the treadmill doesn’t come with one. If you do go for this machine then do buy a chest strap as they can really help improve your performance.
– Non-Folding – Not really much of a drawback but if space is tight then you may want a folding treadmill. This one is quite small anyway considering the size of the deck. It wouldn’t be the same machine if it could fold, it wouldn’t have the same features. Folding treadmills increase cost, can get squeaks and are much heavier.

As you can see in the review above it was a struggle to find any drawbacks. If I had my choice I would always opt for a Technogym machine. Especially when you think about what they normally cost and how much this one is. The Jog Forma is a very simple treadmill and that’s what you want.
