The Precor TRM 211 is a treadmill from the well known fitness equipment manufacturer. Precor usually make equipment for gyms and facilities and now they have released a line of home treadmills. They’ve used their knowledge and expertise to create a line of value machines with plenty of features designed to give you a good workout.

The console comes with 6 workout programs. They have the usual ones like hill climb, interval, weight loss and more. These all specialize in giving you a run that’s designed to be like the program is called. Hill climb, as the name suggests, uses the incline which goes up to 15%. This is standard for most high end treadmills and I’m yet to see higher.

In this review I look at the features and the length of the deck is one. This goes to 57″ which is more than enough length for nearly any runner. When you run fast your stride lengthens and I see this as no problem for the TRM 211. Precor have used their treadmill knowledge where the deck is concerned. The cushioning is vital to be easy on the joints and you find it here.

The blue and white LCD clearly shows you the workout metrics you need to know which includes your heart rate. Unfortunately it can’t read chest straps but it does have pulse grips on the handlebars beneath the console. It does display a heart rate as part of the metrics on the console. The TRM 211 is a no thrills treadmill, it does simple running on the machine well. In this review I’ll go through the features.

Features of the Precor TRM 211 Treadmill

+ 20″ Deck Width – This is about the standard width you see on good treadmills. I always think that the bigger the deck the better. They are built solely to exercise on so the deck is one of the most important parts. There is a 5 year parts and wear warranty so if anything happens to the deck, you’re covered.

+ Workout Summary – This is always something I like to see after I’ve done a workout, the TRM 211 will show you a comprehensive summary of the exercise you’ve just done. We all know the totals like distance and calories but this Precor treadmill will show you average pace and average speed. This is something you can improve over time.

+ Energy Stride – This is patented technology Precor use on their commercial treadmills and they’ve used it on the TRM 211 too. It’s the deck mounting system which makes the deck cushioned and helps reduce any stress from the impact going through to your joints and muscles. They say it provides the optimal comfort in every stride.

+ 1 Inch Deck – Deck thickness can vary among treadmills. Generally the thicker the better as it’s more able to withstand a runner pounding their miles on it. One inch is good and compares well to high end treadmills. What’s more the deck is laminated and Precor says requires little maintenance.

+ Warranty – The TRM 211 treadmill has the usual lifetime on the frame. What I think is impressive is the 5 years of parts and wear. Treadmills can last up to 12 years but 5 years on wear is a good deal and shows Precor have confidence in their machines. They have to be of good build quality and components to last which is what this one has.

Drawbacks of the Precor TRM 211 Treadmill

No Handrails – There are handlebars in front of you with the pulse grips as well. But I would have liked to have seen handrails to the side of you. These are naturally below your arms as you run and so can easily support you if needed. With the handlebars in front of you, you have to reach forward and this is not so natural for someone in the middle of running

No Entertainment – This is not necessary something you need for an in home treadmill. You can easily have a TV or sound system in the same room. But it’s nice to see speakers or a more visually appealing console. A cooling fan can sometimes be found in the console. The TRM 211 has none of these and I would expect some for the price.

Precor TRM 211 Treadmill Review Summary

The Precor TRM 211 is for those people who are serious about their fitness and want a treadmill that will do the job. You get a solid 3.0 CHP motor which can handle walkers and joggers as well as runners. The workout programs will give you some variety in your exercise routine although there could have been more. I like the machine and reviews across the internet seem to agree.

As I’ve said before the TRM 211 is not feature packed but I think it caters for people who don’t need all the extras in their treadmill. What it does have is everything you need to improve your health and wellbeing through exercise. The machine gets 4 stars and I think it’s worth buying if you’re keen on the Precor name. You’d be getting a good treadmill that’s backed up by a good warranty.
